Apple has made it possible for people to see the password for the Wi-Fi network their iPhone is connected to with iOS 16, making it easier to copy and paste the password or share it through social media or email.
Until now, Apple has only showed the name of the Wi-Fi network an iPhone is connected to - without displaying its password. This makes it difficult for some people who wish to share access but do not know their router passwords or have multiple devices and need quick connection time to a public Wi-Fi hotspot.
As expected, with the release of iOS 16, Apple has added an extra security measure for its Wi-Fi passwords. Without even opening Settings, one can use their face to unlock their connection without having to do anything else - all they need to do is open up Control Center and tap on Airplane Mode.
How to Find Wi-Fi Passwords on an iPhone with iOS 16:
- Open the Settings app and tap Wi-Fi
- When connected to a network, tap the small “i” button to see more information
- Tap the password field and authenticate when prompted with either Touch ID or Face ID
- When the Wi-Fi password appears, either tap Copy to copy the password to your iPhone’s clipboard, or share the password with friends and family
Every Wi-Fi password for every network that the iPhone has been connected to can be seen on the internet when it connects to that same network.
