Just like our daily routine lives, a company goes through the same cycle of highs and lows. Tech giant Apple saw both successes and failures in the previous year 2019.
Be it the time and hype of iPhone 11 Pro, the highs of seeing more and more AirPods in people's ears, or the lows that Apple faced where it had to recall MacBook Pro for keyboard issues and having to ditch AirPower. All in all, it was an eventful year at Apple.
If you have been following Apple and its news for a long time, you would know that Apple's greatest virtue is its predictability. They have not changed their annual routine much since a long time. It has not changed all that much in the last five years and so Apple fanatics can plan their purchases weeks or even months in advance.
Even when they don’t know specific details about the product or announcement, speculations can still hit somewhere near the bull’s eye.
As for now, we can have a decent idea of what we can expect from Apple in this coming year. Even though no one has the fine or clear idea of what is to come, we can definitely speculate about the coming surprises. There will be a combination of new iPhones, iPads, Macbooks, and Apple Watches this year.
iPhone 12
Undoubtedly, the first in the list will be the 12th generation of iPhone. Last year we saw that Apple spilt the iPhone range into the standard iPhone and the Pro range. This might continue this year as well and maybe Apple will launch the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro in September 2020.
We will see more focus on Apple improving the camera, while there is talk that the Pro range will move away from featuring a Lightning connection to USB-C to fit in with the iPad Pro line. Rumours also suggest that the iPhone 12 will come in three sizes (5.4-, 6.1-, and 6.7-inch).
Next, one of the biggest advancements has to be that the iPhone 12 Pro may feature 5G. Even though it is not confirmed, this move follows the publicly announced partnership with Qualcomm in 2019 and will have given time for carriers around the world to roll out their 5G networks.
Rumours also suggest that Apple may launch an update to the iPhone SE. There is no real confirmation to this news but it is a rumour which keeps coming up year on year, also teasing the assumption that an iPhone SE 2 model might be up this year.
AirTags
Apple has been working on AirTags which is a Tile shaped Bluetooth tracking device specifically designed to be attached to items like keys and wallets. You can then track those items through letting real-time tracking from the Find My app.
A solid release date for Apple's AirTags has not been declared yet but considering the signs we have been seeing about it in iOS 13 for months now, Apple may target a 2020 launch.
AirTags contain built-in chips which can connect to an iPhone and can relay the position of devices that they're attached to. Rumors also say that AirTags will have an Apple-designed U1 ultra-wideband chip for more accurate tracking than Bluetooth can provide.
Updated Software
Just like in June of every year during the Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple introduces new software for the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV, and Macs, we can expect to see iOS 14, iPadOS 14, watchOS 7, tvOS 14, and macOS 10.16.
Again, there are no solid details from any official sources yet but we can definitely take an educated stab in the dark about this.
Other major (or minor) possibilities
- ARM-Based Mac
- Apple TV
- Over-the-Ear Headphones
- AR Smart Glasses
- New Macbook Pros and iPads
- Apple Watch Series 6
- Homepod 2
Conclusion
Rumours coming true or not, one thing is sure that every year Apple brings something or the other which gets the world of tech excited. Those involved with iOS app development solutions have a new playground to innovate and reinvent.
Every upgrade brings endless opportunities, seamless possibilities, and a vast array of ideas that promises to change the world we live in and how we interact with it.
